Mad Monk Travels

Inspired by the Divine Madman

Mad Monk Travels draws inspiration from Drukpa Kunley, the Divine Madman—the legendary 15th-century Tibetan saint whose unconventional wisdom, humour, and fearless spirit left a lasting mark on Bhutanese culture.

Drukpa Kunley challenged rigid conventions and taught through songs, poetry, humour, and unconventional methods, encouraging people to look beyond appearances and experience truth for themselves. His legacy still lives on in Bhutan’s sacred places, stories, traditions, festivals, and everyday life.

That spirit is at the heart of Mad Monk Travels.

We believe travelling through Bhutan should be more than ticking off landmarks. It is about slowing down, meeting people, experiencing traditions, walking ancient trails, sharing a meal, or simply taking time to appreciate the landscape around you.

We create private, thoughtfully paced journeys that bring together Bhutan’s culture, nature, adventure, and spirituality—with room for curiosity, spontaneity, and genuine human connection.

With decades of experience and a deep understanding of Bhutan, our team takes care of the details so you can focus on the journey.
